A Message from Morton COVID-19 Edition

Thank you for your support of your local library and those served by your library during a very challenging week that has seen the closure of almost all libraries in the Mid-Hudson region in response to the coordinated call for us all to practice social distancing to help “flatten the curve” to lessen the impact of COVID-19. With both the American Library Association and the New York Library Association now calling for libraries to close in the face of COVID-19, MHLS libraries were ahead of the curve in doing the right thing.

And thank you so much from all of us here at Morton for bearing up under this trying time.
This is certainly not our usual newsletter; there are no library events to tout per se, but there is still plenty to do to keep you from going too stir crazy.  We will be adding more online and outside ideas as time goes by.  Along with everyone else, we are playing this by ear and paying attention to what the experts are suggesting.

Though we are closed, we are taking advantage of this time to have work done on our porch so that there will be no disruption of service when we can re-open.  We are working to put some new online ideas in place and will be giving more information in the next few days.  Please keep in touch via our social media sites: Instagram and Facebook.  We will also be posting on our website and at the Rhinecliff Post Office and Rhinecliff Train Station. Let us know if there is anything that we can be doing for you to help out or if you can think of anything that we can do together to make this experience as positive as possible.

Feel free to contact us either electronically: sandy[at]mortonrhinecliff.org or by phone: 845-876-2903.
Thank you, stay safe, and take care of each other.
