This Tuesday is Tax Day! April 18, 2017

Tuesday, April 18, 2017 is Tax Day. Don’t panic if you’ve left filing your taxes until today. There’s still time! Start by visiting https://www.irs.gov/

Use IRS free file. If you make $64,000 annually or less, you can use the free software provided by the IRS to file electronically.

Instead of paper filing, try IRS e-file. By using the IRS tax software, you are much less likely to make a mistake than on your paper return.

Make sure to file on time. Even if you owe taxes and cannot pay the full amount on the April due date, pay as much as you can. You may apply for an Online Payment Agreement if you need to pay in installments.

Lastly, if you cannot file by April 18th, you can still get a six-month extension.
E-file your extension request at IRS free file or use
Form 4868: Application for Automatic Extension of Time. Also here are the New York e-file and extension links: https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/efile/ & https://www.tax.ny.gov/pit/file/ext.htm
