A Message about Morton from Executive Director, Joanne A. Meyer
As a member of the Mid-Hudson Library System, Morton takes part in the sharing of electronic books and audiobooks that can be heard and read on different devices like computers and smartphones and the Nook and the Kindle. Just by having library cards and computers, many of our library patrons have access to various formats twenty-four hours a day. If you don’t have a card, please register with us at Morton. The card allows you to check out items at all of the 66 libraries in the System, and to take advantage of these many digital services by simply entering your library card number and a private password that you have made up.
If you want to get an audiobook or E-book without charge (because you have a library card!), then visit http://morton.rhinecliff.lib.ny.us and find the area on the right side of our home page that says Overdrive. When you click on that tab, you will see a Sign In area where you can enter your library card number and your password to set up an account with Overdrive. You can find instructions on how to download audiobooks and E-books on different formats, and you can browse the collections through many categories. Find some items to read or listen to, and…download to your computer or device. We are getting access to more and more titles daily, and readership is going up and up – especially since the holiday giving of E-Readers! If this is all new to you, we have some Nooks at Morton to help you get started. So…take advantage of the library to get E-reading material without having to buy it over the Internet. Nothing wrong with that, and it keeps our libraries as vibrant and important as ever. Enjoy your reading, listening, viewing!
